The Poet Must Die

IMG_0867.JPG

We must all be born
We must all be sworn
Into a lifetime
Like breathing wind chimes
We must all walk
So we’re easy to stalk
We must be tucked in
And learn death from within…

The baby must cry
The poet must die…

Most of us must see
Our visions deceive
We must admire
Counteracting desire
Flowers, colors
Must mislead each other
Phoenix thought he’d rise
Christ thought he was right
Our faith must show us this
Like a deadly kiss…

The gay boy must cry
The poet must die…

We shouldn’t be called
innocent at birth
Killing the dreamers
of the universe
We’re only at ease
When we’re empty-handed
And we’re humble
When we’ve finally landed

The dreamer must cry
The poet must die…
